The BHS boys golf team has kicked off their season, and there are 21 boys playing this year. The head coach, Mackenzie Ellis, is excited to build team camaraderie throughout the season.
“I believe that two of the key aspects I am looking forward to this season are fostering team camaraderie, and witnessing improvements in my golfers’ scores throughout the season.” Ellis said.
Golf is a sport that you can enjoy well after your highschool, college, or even pro career.
“What I appreciate most about golf is that it is a lifelong sport,” Coach Ellis said. “I have the opportunity to coach these young men throughout high school, and they can continue to enjoy golfing well into their 90s.”
Golf is usually viewed as an individual sport, but the boys are looking to build more of a team aspect by building relationships with eachother.
“While golf is often perceived as an individual sport, I want to ensure that all my players feel comfortable asking each other for advice,” Coach Ellis said. “It is important for them to have a support system where they can seek guidance and encouragement to help them recognize their progress.”
Golf is a very mental game, you have to try to stay positive and keep going.
“The hardest part about golf for me is just keeping a level head after hitting a bad shot,” Sophomare golfer, Jett Good said. “I know that if I get down on myself I’m only gonna do worse so I try to stay as positive as possible.”
The golfers enjoy playing the game as well as getting to know their teammates and hang out with them everyday.
“My favorite part of the golf team is just getting to be outside with friends and getting to golf at new courses everyday tournament.” Good said.
