Everybody has a specific time they wake up, including BHS students. Some people might like to wake up early to get ready and look good for school, or to get things done. Others, however, might wake up late in the morning to get more sleep, or because they feel tired in the morning and don’t like to wake up.
“I wake up early so I have enough time to get ready, make lunch, and do anything else I might need to do before school and not be late,” a senior girl said.
“I wake up early so I can go to the gym,” a freshman boy said.
70% of BHS students wake up earlier than 7:00 A.M., and 52% wake up specifically at 6:30 A.M..
I wake up early so I can get ready for school,” student who wakes up at 6:30 said.
Students also might change what time they wake up depending on what time they leave for school. 79% of students leave for school at 7:30 A.M. or after. Many students live in town, so they can leave a bit later than those who might live in the country or farther away.
“I live farther away, and I have to be at the PC to catch the bus on time, so I leave early,” a freshman that leaves before 7 A.M. said.
Those who wake up early should try to go to bed early as well. Many BHS students go to bed late, and that causes them to wake up later, which can affect many things like sleep schedule, academic performance, and mental health.
“When a person’s sleep schedule doesn’t align with their social requirements, they might perform poorly at school or work, experience anxiety, and have personal relationship complications,” sleepfoundation.org said. “Shifting the sleep schedule earlier may help a person avoid some of the negative effects of inconsistent sleep and sleep that misaligns with social schedules.”
