Prax Myers is a senior at Baldwin High School, and he is also an E-sports player and event organizer. He plays competitive first-person shooters such as Team Fortress 2 and Counter strike: Global offensive. He is also an organizer of professional teams and rosters.

A first-person shooter is a game that has a first-person perspective and focus mainly on gunplay and gunfights, these tend to be some of the most skill intensive competitive games. An E-sport is a game that you can participate in for prize money, and some players make a living off of this.

A competitive game is one with an extremely dedicated section of players whose skill level is far greater than that of the average or casual player, who take the game very seriously, making enjoyment of the game dependent on mastery of all strategies, skills and tricks in the game(although these are not necessarily Esports), examples of competitive games are Team Fortress 2, Counter strike: Global offensive, Starcraft 2, League of Legends, and Overwatch.

Now if you have any interest in joining this group of dedicated gamers, it isnot as difficult as you might think. Myers elerabortated on this.

“So one day I wondered if Team Fortress 2 had any professional players, so I went and read six wikipedia articles on it,” Myers said. “and I thought to myself ‘I can probably do this.’, so I got some guys together and I started a team and I realized you can buy and trade teams as well as players. I recently sold my last roster for five hundred dollars, and now I’ve started a new company that’s going to have several teams and rosters. I also realized that tournaments are pretty easy to set up, you just have to organize the rules around what you have instead of trying to imitate others”

Myers also recently organized a gaming tournament based around the browser game Krunker, which will take place in the coming months, and I participated in another tournament he set up among his friends in preparation for it.

E-sports are growing quickly in popularity, and with games like Overwatch and Fortnite becoming extremely popular in recent years,growing the gaming community significantly, it looks like the E-sports scene will only continue to grow.
