Q/A – Danielle Balsman
Eighth year teacher Danielle Balsman responds to questions about her teaching experience. She has been at BHS for eight years now, and is happy to come to the school to teach students. Balsman is the teacher of a few different classes. She teaches Algebra I and II. She is also the coach of the BJHS 7th grade volleyball team, and a freshman stuco class sponsor.
How long have you been teaching?
“This is my eighth year.”
-What is the most difficult part about teaching high school students?
“Getting them to want to learn, and helping them with their lack of confidence.”
-What got you into teaching?
“I was influenced by my mom, and from spending time with 4-H students.”
-Do you coach any sports? If so, what are they?
“Yes. Jr. high volleyball.”
-Why do you enjoy teaching?
“It never gets boring and its always a constant challenge. It’s very rewarding.”
-What do you usually do when you’re not teaching?
“I typically like to watch movies and play video games. Sometimes I play rec volleyball.”
