This season, there is a new baseball coach, Grant Bachura. He was previously coaching as an assistant, but has now taken on the head coach role. Bachura has been coaching baseball for 8 years, 4 of which at Baldwin.
Bachura played college Baseball at Coffeyville Community College and Emporia State University.
“I chose to coach baseball because I had really good coaches in my life,” Bachura said. “I wanted to pass my baseball knowledge to the boys I coach.”
When asking the baseball boys how they feel about Bachura becoming the new coach, they said this.
“I’m very excited about Bachura becoming our new head coach,” senior Brett Davidson said. “He has a good reputation with leading teams to winning seasons and state championships, so it is very exciting, and I have high hopes for him and the teams in the future.”
“I look up to my head coach, Grant Bachura, a lot,” senior Ryder Nigh said. He’s been a major role model in my baseball career and has always been there for me.”
“I feel like Bachura was a great pick for a head coach, and I am looking forward to the rest of the season and with him as my coach,” sophomore Cason Dick said. “I like his coaching style, he wants to have fun but as seriously as possible, and I respect that.”
“Coach Bachura becoming the new head coach for Baldwin Baseball is huge for the program this year and upcoming years,” senior Jagger Dey said. “Coach Bachura is a great person to be around, always wanting the best for me and everyone on the team. As Bachura has been my coach, I can see he has a relentless work ethic for baseball; he shows me and my teammates that he is always trying his hardest while doing it all for the team, which inspires me.”
Every coach has a different way to go about it that can influence each player to work harder and to hold them to their highest potential. So I asked players what it is that Bachure does to hold them to that.
“He has had a very strong influence on me; he is always willing to work with me and help me get better,” Davidson said. “From his first day on the staff my freshman year, he was always willing to do the extra work with everyone to help us players get better.”
“He has influenced me to work hard by just talking with me,” Dick said. “I feel like some coaches don’t do that anymore, and that’s important.”
“Coach Bachura’s impact not just on me but everyone he is around is amazing, no matter the day, good or bad, he is always in a good mood, trying to improve someone else’s day,” Dey said.
