Donald Blanchat is the boy’s basketball coach at BHS for five years. He has had great success with his overall coaching experience.
Q: How long have you been coaching basketball?
“I have coached for 24 years, this is my 5th year as the head coach in Baldwin”
Q: What do you love most about basketball?
“I love the fact that you cannot specialize in one area. You must be good at all aspects of the game to be good.”
Q: What are you looking forward to with the upcoming season?
“We have had two great seasons the past two years and are looking forward to continuing to build on that success.”
Q: What coaching styles do you use?
“I try to have high expectations for players and clearly communicate those expectations.”
Q: What made you want to coach basketball?
I think it was as I grew up and loved playing basketball, transitioning to coaching it just felt natural. I like just being in a gym and being around the game.”
Q: Overall, how has your experience been with coaching?
“It has been great. I have made connections with players, parents and communities for over 2 decades. I value those relationships and love getting back in contact with former players.”
