Q: Why did you want to stay in Baldwin City for college?
“Since I was young, I dreamt of going to Baker. I loved the campus, the community feel, and the idea of representing my hometown. I never truly thought of going to another University, Baker just always felt like the right option for me. It has been weird from time to time being in the same town that I have lived in since I was three years old – but the pros absolutely outweigh the cons. I can’t imagine being far away and my family missing my sporting events or being unable to go home for family dinners. Those things have always been extremely important to me.”
Q: As someone who is staying in their hometown, do you still get the full college experience?
“Yes, I would say I have had the best college experience overall! I love being close to my family and getting to go home as often as I like, as well as being engulfed in the Baker community. I’ve always said that Baker University feels like a completely different town than Baldwin. So it has been nice to have my own freedom and opportunities, but still have the pieces of home that I love as well. I have created wonderful friendships with people from all over the world and established bonds that will last me a lifetime.”
Q: What made you want to extend your volleyball and wrestling career at Baker?
“Playing volleyball was always a no-brainer. I love the competition and fast pace that the sport brings. Getting to play at Baker was always something I dreamed of doing. As for wrestling, I had the unexpected opportunity to compete under THE Kit Harris once again. That is what made me extend my career. I knew that he was a once-in-a-lifetime type of coach, so I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity! I have been so blessed to compete in two sports that I love at the collegiate level.”
Q: As your time at BU starts to come to an end, what are some of your favorite memories?
“There are truly too many memories to even list – but some include late-night van rides with my volleyball team, movie nights with my sorority sisters, and the excitement of Baker football games. When I think about my last four years, there are so many high points and great memories. I have been lucky to have the college experience that I did, I would not change a thing!”
