The track team at Baldwin High and Junior High is an incredible thing. Our teams have been rocking it at state track meets and league meets. New people are joining both this year.
The high school information meeting happened Thursday, Feb. 15 in the high school cafeteria.
Coach Mike Spielman is ready for the new season.
“We’re excited to start and have new people joining.” Coach Speilman said.
This season has some new freshmen joining this year. Many students are also returning.
Coach Crystal Engemann is also ready.
“I’m excited to be teaching track again,” said PE teacher Coach Engemann. “ It’s a beautiful time to be outside and fun to see kids cheering their friends and teammates on. I do think the student-athletes will have fun because they get to see their growth and improvement every time they compete. It’s also a great social sport because after you compete, you’re socializing and cheering on your friends.”
“My favorite part of coaching track is seeing the athletes get a new PR (personal record),” Engemann said.
The meeting for the junior high was Feb. 27, and over 100 students attended.
“I can’t believe how many kids there are. I printed one hundred papers and I ran out,” Engemann said.
