There are new teams or old coaches retire or move to the next level. Baldwin High School needed three new head coaches, one for the new girls golf team, one for the wrestling team and a new volleyball coach.
“I wanted to become the new head golf coach as soon as I found out there was going to be a girls team,” new golf coach Hannah Clark said. “I grew up playing the sport with my family and I played in college at Baker University.”
When the old Baldwin wrestling coach Kit Harris took a job coaching at Baker University. The BHS head wrestling position was taken by BHS alum Levi Green who was a two time state placer for BHS. He was also on the 2015 bulldog state championship team.
“I chose to become the new head coach because I enjoy giving back to the sport and guiding young athletes that want to pursue the sport of wrestling,” Green said.
Last year the girls volleyball team was one of the best teams in Baldwin but they needed a new coach for this season. Kathy Allen is the new coach and said.
“It was kind of a being in the right place at the right time kind of thing,” Allen said. BHS needed a head coach, I’d recently moved to Baldwin…I applied. I figured I still had something left in me to give the team, so here I am.”
When asked what her favorite part of coaching volleyball is.
“My favorite part of coaching is developing relationships with the players, finding out what motivates them, and helping them become the best version of themselves on the court,” Allen said.
