Every year, some of the members of the BHS Cross Country are chosen to run at the National High School Coaches meet. This year, Joe Peirce, George Letner and Nevin Dunn, will be running at Louisville, Kentucky to see how they match up against some of the greatest athletes in the country.
Peirce commented on what he thinks about the national meet.
“Nationals is a great experience,” he said. “It’s really fun to get to see how you stack up against a lot of people that you normally wouldn’t get to race.
Dunn shared in Peirce’s emotions.
“The purpose of a national meet is to further excessive your running ability and have a lot of fun while seeing where your at on a national level,” he stated.
The boys head Cross Country coach Mike Speilman described what he thought about the national meet.
“It’s not like state, it’s a lot more individualized and it’s a good way to keep the sport going after the initial season.” He said.
Peirce explained what it’s like preparing for the meet.
“It’s hard to continue practicing after state, especialy when you still have three weeks to go,” he said. “I do still enjoy it though, and it’s fun to get to have the season go a little bit longer.”
Dunn finished by saying what he thinks the meet will be like.
“It should be a great way to finish off the season and I’m looking forward to meeting some new people and running a great race,” he said.
