By beating Spring Hill last Thursday, the Bulldogs made a date with perennial powerhouse Kansas City Christian School 4 p.m tomorrow, Oct. 30 at home
“I think as long as we show up to play and give our best effort we will have a good game and hopefully get the result we want,” senior Mason Bandré said.
Junior Duncan Murray thought that the keys to the game were mainly mentally, but indicated a key goal for the Bulldogs in the game.
“We need to stay focused,” Murray said. “And we also need to have a lot of heart.”
This is the second appearance for the Bulldogs in state quarterfinals, and second consecutive for the Bulldogs.
The KCCS Panthers are the defending state champions and compete with powerhouses such as top ranked Blue Valley Northwest. The Bulldogs recognize the of level competition KCC will bring.
“I don’t think we should approach KC Christian differently as a team,” Bandre said. “Even though they play 6A schools we’ve still got to play them like we would any other team.”
The Panthers had two meetings with the BVNW Huskies this year and lost both games 3-2 and 2-1. The Bulldogs also hoped that the home-field advantage would give them a major boost.
“Hopefully we’ll have a lot of fans,” sophomore Joel Dixon said. “It gets us psyched up for the game.”
