Levi Green is one of the head wrestling coaches at Baldwin Junior High. He is a well known, and well rounded person in the Baldwin community. This is his second year coaching at Baldwin. He also was an assistant coach at Baker in 2022 and was head coach of DC gold youth wrestling club, also in 2022.
“I have been wrestling since I was 5 years old. I started out wrestling in Eudora when I was 5 and then moved outside of Baldwin when I was 6. This is when I was introduced to the Baldwin wrestling club and started wrestling for Kelly Hockey who is now a former coach for the youth wrestling club. I figured out quickly that wrestling was the sport for me and the Baldwin community was respected for representing the sport. When I got into jr.high this is when I got the opportunity to wrestle for Kit Harris and that is when our relationship started. Kit and I built a good relationship off the bat and he has been a mentor to me for 15 years now. Wrestling is my passion and a sport that clicked with me the day I stepped on the mat. I have competitively wrestled for 18 years. I wrestled in youth, high school and wrestled at the collegiate level.
Kit Harris has ensured that wrestling is a sport that should be recognized in the community and has done a good job presenting the sport to anyone that wants to be involved. Growing up and wrestling in high school, I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor/coach to be in my corner.
After graduating from Baker University, the opportunity to be the Jr.high/high school head wrestling coach came upon. Kit Harris got the girls head coaching position at Baker University last season and this was my chance to take the position and give back to the community that helped shape the young man I am today. This is my second year as head coach for the Jr.high and high school wrestling team. I enjoy coaching and it gives me a purpose. I feel as if I were destined to be in this position and I am very grateful for the opportunity and to be in this position as well. I have a lot of support from parents, coaches, and family in the community and it is a great feeling. My favorite part of coaching is being able to give the knowledge I have on the sport and try and implement it to my wrestlers so they can build skill and their own style in the sport of wrestling. I love watching them grow and develop as they are becoming the best version of themself on and off the mat.”
