“I have been riding horses ever since I was 8 so about 7 years and I started caring for the horses in March 2024. When I was younger I was always super interested in them, they always made me really happy and when I saw one I would yell “horses” and I really wished I could be on one someday. My Nana had horses when she was younger and she would tell me stories about them as well. After a couple of weeks of lessons, I fell in love with the horses and I just never wanted to stop, so when I moved barns, I asked if I could care for the horses in my free time. I own one horse, she is a mare, and her name is Canyon. My job is to take care of all the horses on the ranch. I go out every Saturday and Sunday evening and I feed them to make sure everyone is accounted for and check if they have water and hay for the night for about an hour or more. If I need to cover for someone, I will do mornings or sometimes during the week, but it’s rare. I love where I work, everyone is nice and very friendly to me. The horses are mostly behaved so that makes things easier. I will most definitely keep riding and working on the ranch in the future, I love the sport and will never stop doing it. It’s a lifetime sport that I will never stop doing, even if you pay me.”
