“I graduated from Baldwin High School in 1958. My graduating class had around 30-40 people in it so it wasn’t a very big class nor a very big community.”
Q: During your four years at the high school what extracurriculars did you do?
“I played football all four years of high school as an offensive defensive right guard, then my sophomore year I joined track and ran the 100-yard sprint along with the relay race.”
Q: What classes were you enrolled in?
“The classes that I took were General Math, World History, American Government, Woodshop, and Typing when I had an average of 4 words per minute.”
Q: What did you do right after high school?
“Right after high school I went and worked construction down in Lawrence as a rodman on a missile base. After that I went and became a truck driver. After I retired from driving I went back to the farm and started a dairy farm.”
Q: Why did you stay in Baldwin?
“I guess I’m just homebound, I grew up here and farmed here with my family, I raised my kids here and just never left.”
Q: What’s your favorite memory from high school?
“My favorite memory from high school would have to be how small the school was. Everybody knew everybody so it was a close school.
Q: What changes have you seen through Baldwin.
“The biggest change I’ve seen is the growth in population. Even though Baldwin is still a small community it was a lot smaller when I was growing up but I see classes grow through my kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.”
