Margreta Davis, class of 2023, is now back working at BJHS. However, she didn’t come back right after graduation, she took a year off to do some good work for the world.
“After I graduated, I joined a Christian missions program called YWAM in Asheville, North Carolina,” Davis said. “This allowed me to get missions and biblical training. Then, I spent two months in Tanzania, Africa doing all sorts of work and evangelism.”
Davis decided to come back to work at BJHS for a number of reasons, including deciding her future career.
“I decided to work at the junior high because I wanted to get experience working in a school building and in different classrooms,” Davis said. “I did it to help me decide if teaching is in my future.”
Davis has been working with 6th graders since she has been back. She has been very helpful with students and their needs.
“I’ve been working as a 6th grade para educator,” Davis said. “My job mostly consists of helping students with schoolwork and being in the classroom to offer help and their accommodations.”
Davis has had a lot of fun working at BJHS, including seeing some familiar faces.
“I have really enjoyed working at the junior high so far,” Davis said. “It’s been fun to work with teachers who used to be my teachers.”
Teachers aren’t only the familiar faces Davis is working with, but some of the kids she is working with are familiar to her as well. She is having a lot of fun with them as they figure out who they are.
“I love working with kids of all ages, but there is something special about working with middle schoolers who I’ve known since 3rd grade,” Davis said. “I’ve been able to build relationships with the students I work with and I often joke around with them. Middle schools are a fun age where they are just starting to figure out who they are and what they like, and that’s a fun thing to witness.”
