2024 graduate Samatha Scraper was a hard-working student at Baldwin High School and is now continuing her hard work at Wichita State University. Scraper is in the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College. She is working on her future career, as a Injury Prevention Specialist.
What got you to where you are now?
“My parents, teachers, and close friends have all contributed to my development. However, I believe that I deserve a lot of credit for where I am right now as my determination and efforts in school have given me the opportunity to attend Wichita State University, and more specifically, the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College at WSU.”
What made you want to go to Wichita State University?
“I have loved all of the progress WSU has made me as far as renovations go and WSU’s future looked very promising as it is constantly passing new features like the innovation campus, for its students.”
What are you planning on doing after college?
“As of right now, I am interested in becoming a pelvic floor rehab and injury prevention specialist, which falls into the Physical Therapy healthcare field.”
What are you majoring in for college?
“I am an Exercise Science major on a Pre-PT track and I am doing the University Honors Minar with a focus in business.”
What is the Honor Program you are in?
“I am in the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College, which is its own college at the university, it is like all of the other colleges such as the College of Liberal Arts or the College of Engineering.”
How did you get into the Honor Program?
“You have to fill out an application which requires several different things like a resume.”
What do you do in the Honor Program?
“There are so many opportunities in the Honors College such as trips you can go on or smaller things like classes. Currently, I am in a Community and Cultural Connections seminar and I am an Honors Ambassador. I plan on going on several trips through the honors college, and of course, taking more honors classes to fulfill my university minor requirements.”
When do you finish the Honor Program?
“I will graduate from the Honors College at the same time I graduate from Wichita State University, in four years.”
