“I am a freshman in high school (9th). I first started percussion in 6th grade because I would drum on things around the house with my hands, so my parents told me that I would be good at percussion. The first instrument I learned to play was a glockenspiel or bells. It’s a small xylophone-like instrument with metal bars and a more piercing sound. My favorite instrument to play is the drum set, but I’m not very good at it yet. My favorite part about being a percussionist is all the different instruments I get to learn how to play. My favorite place I have performed would be the Field Museum in Chicago, Illinois. The band took a trip to Chicago after spring break of this year. My favorite song would be one we recently performed called To The Wind by Aaron Perrine which was very percussion heavy and a lot of fun to play.”
