STAFF OF THE MONTH: Sheila Vander Tuig, special education teacher
Each month a new staff member is chosen to be “Staff of the Month.” For November, Sheila Vander Tuig was nominated by Cydney Novotney to be Staff of the month.
She works in special education and she is a vocational and transition coordinator. Sheila works for the district but you will see her working in other schools. She has been Working here at BHS making a huge impact on students. Sheila is also the sponsor for the Mardi Gras at the high school.
How long have been doing your job here?
- “This is my 20th year.”
What do you like about your job?
- “The variety, I like doing different things and I certainly do different things in my job.”
How did you feel about being chosen as staff of the month?
- “I am surprised, there’s just so many people that do an outstanding job so I was surprised and thankful.”
Why did you want to be the sponsor of Mardi Gras?
- “I feel like it is important to make a difference in kids lives.”
What do you enjoy to do when you are not working?
- “I like doing crafty things off of Pinterest and watching investigating shows.”
Do you have any pets at home?
- “An eight year old black lab named Shady.”
Where is your dream vacation
- “Go to Seattle, because that’s where my daughter lives.”
