Buddies not bullies
According to Stopbullying, 2 in 7 students have been bullied at school. Bullying people is unacceptable, it makes people feel less about themselves. We are all people and and just because someone may not be the same as you, does not mean you have the right to bully them.
With 28% of U.S. students grades 6 to 12 experienced bullying that can have lifelong effects on people, according to Stopbullying. Imagine someone constantly picking on you because of who you are, it not right people deserve the chance to express who they are.
There are many ways to stand up to bullying, like telling a trusted adult. Sometimes just by talking to the victim and listening to how they feel can make them feel better knowing that you care.
Cyberbullying has become a huge problem over the last decade, especially with all the social media accounts. According to Stopbullying, 9% of students get bullied online. People will post pictures of their victim to embarrass them and make fun of them. Even just a rude text to someone can affect them and make them sad and hurt. Most of the posts that get posted stay online for ever and there will always be a negative post about the person.
Bullying can get to the point where it has lead people to suicide. People need to stop being mean to others. Among 15 to 24 year olds, suicide is one of the leading causes of death according to Suicide Awareness Voices. Bullying can lead to depression and other problems down the road.
Overall, bullying is unacceptable and if anyone sees it happening around them, they need to stand up. We are all human and we all deserve a chance to live the life we want without someone putting us down.
