Mission trips effecting lives of BHS students
When the summer of 2015 hits, the youth at the Baldwin First United Methodist get pumped for an experience of a lifetime. The annual mission trip. This year BFUM is heading to Racine, Wisconsin, to help repair hearts, lives and homes.
Mission trips helps students see how God uses the experience of serving others to change lives. In both yourself and the people you serve.
For senior Michaela Todd this will be her second mission trip, she loved the first one so why not go on another and make even more memories.
“I went on my first mission trip last summer we went to Pensacola, Florida,” Todd said. “It was such an amazing experience, to see lives being repaired first hand.”
The youth leader of youth at BFUMC is Eva Duran, and she proud to announce that this will be her 12th mission trip, and that she is more than excited for mission trip of 2015 to start.
“I love my youth so much,” Duran said. “I just can’t explain the emotions on mission trip, just seeing my youth’s lives be changed is so amazing, it is just a blessing being able to work this the youth of Baldwin City Kansas.”
This year will be Wyatt Slavins first mission trip. He has been wanting to go on this trip for a long time, and he just can’t believe it is happening.
“I am ready for a new experience,” Slavin said. “I want time to reflex on my life, and just spend some time with other christians.”
Meeting new people and making lifelong friendship with people from all around the U.S. was a big part for Evan Jones.
“I best part of the trip was meeting tons of new people and just getting to worship with them was amazing,” Jones said. “After the trip I value my possessions more especially knowing that they can be taken away at any moment.”
