So far 10 BHS seniors have signed to play sports in college.
Most recently, Canyon Burtis just signed to wrestle at Baker.
“I have been wrestling for 3 years now, and it’s become a huge part of who I am,” Burtis said. “I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to wrestle at Baker—it truly feels like a dream coming to life.”
Burtis is the only BHS senior that has signed to wrestle in college.
Two seniors have signed to continue their football careers in college. These two young men are Jake Van Horn and Brett Davidson. Van Horn is going to Baker and Davidson is going to Butler County Community College.
“I’m extremely excited to continue my football career in college because I know I still have so much room to grow,” Van Horn said. “I can’t wait to see the success we will have as a team.”
Then, there are the four cheerleaders who are going to cheer at Baker University: Ebi Gerrard, Malin Harris, Mikayla Micheal and Niella New.
The only senior going to college for basketball is Lauren Berg and she is also attending Baker University.
Kaitlin Base who is playing softball at Neosho County Community College. Base’s primary position is catcher and her secondary is outfield.
“I have enjoyed the sport for 12 years and I am extremely grateful for everything that I have learned from it,” Base said. “Softball has always been very important to me so I knew from a young age that I wanted to play in high school and college.”
