Seniors take the lead in the yearly BHS class cup competition.
BHS Student Council created this friendly class cup point competition to encourage students to come to school events. At the end of the year, whichever class has the most points wins some sort of a prize.
“I think class cup points are very important because it incentivizes going to school events and helps people come out of their shells a bit,” freshman Ali Taylor said.
“It would be more fun if more people participated in all of the competitions that we do throughout the year,”junior Seth Smasal said. “This competition is great because it allows us to compete against each other in a friendly competition.”
This competition has been going on for thirteen years now.
Last year the sophomores, now juniors, won a trip to “Main Event” for having the most points at the end of the year.
As of March 11, the seniors are in the lead with 2,220 points with the freshman right behind them by just 10 points. Next are the sophomores with 1,900 points, and lastly, the juniors with 1,705 points.
“The competitions give high school students a reason to attend and support the different clubs and sports events,” sophomore Cheyenne Brunker said.
The school holds many events throughout the year where BHS students can earn points for their class just by showing up. It is a fun way to show you have school spirit while silently competing in a harmless competition.
