Most teenagers have their parents pay for their things, but now that these kids are going into high school will that change?
Parents are the main supporters of kids, they pay for their clothes, food, shoes, and school supplies. But what happens when the parents tell their kids, that they have to find a way to pay for themselves?
25% of female students still have parents pay for them, but about 6% of female students share the cost, and about 2% of female students pay for their belongings. These numbers show that parents are still paying for most high school females, while some pay half, and the rest of the students pay for their items.
“I’m grateful that my parents paying for most things but I also think that kids should pay for certain things by themselves so they can learn more about money and not grow up spoiled,” a female student said.
Now male students are much more independent and about 12% of male students pay for their belongings, and about 7% share the cost. But there are 17% of male students who have their parents pay for them still. This means that while the male students have a bit more independence in paying for their items, parents still pay for most of their daily needs.
