Everyone does something after high school. It may be going to college to get a degree or it may be going straight to a job. BHS students have options and this survey shows what the students want to do after school at Baldwin.
71% of students throughout the grade levels said they wanted to go to college after graduating. Half of those students said that science, math, and advanced college classes would help them get to that point. The students wanting to go to college had factors that would be important to achieve in their goals.
“I think the most important factors that would help me the most in doing what I want in college is volunteer work and getting real world experience in the career I want to have,” a junior girl said.
12% of the surveyed students said that they wanted to either go into the military or go to trade school. 37% of the 12% wanted to go to the military and all of those students said that PE and Weight classes were going to help them the most in getting to what they want. The other percent wanted to go to trade school and said that business classes and weights would help them get there.
“My long term goals are to get money and build up my future while enjoying what I do,” a senior boy said.
The other, small, percent of students chose that they want to go straight into working. They favored the long term goal of getting money. A little over half said that business classes were going to help them in the job they want to go into.
“The classes I want to take are social studies and business classes because it is what is mostly required for the job I want to have and to do that I need to keep my grades up and get in the real world,” a sophomore girl said.
