Digital Photography is a course offered for a Visual Art credit at Baldwin High School. This course is an introduction to photography and visual communication. This course explores camera controls, aesthetics of picture taking, and composition. Trenton Martin is a senior at Baldwin High School that is currently enrolled in this class and has spent time learning how to take a camera and produce a unique piece of art to share with others.
Q: What are some projects you have worked on for this course?
“Some of the projects I have done in this class include; A 6 rules of photography, tiny to big, macro, and many more. All of the projects were difficult to do at first but when learning how the camera works it begins to become easier.”
Q: What is your favorite piece that you created and why is this piece so important?
“My favorite piece I created was a picture of a tree near the ice cream house. The piece is important as during a photoshoot I took the photo and edited it to be more antique looking.”
Q: Why did you decide to take this class over other Fine Art classes?
“I took this class because I had already done other hands-on art classes throughout my high school career and wanted a change of pace, therefore Digital Photography looked interesting. The course is simple and easy as long as you know how to use a camera and can learn better ways to use it.”
Q: Who would you recommend to enroll in this course?
“I would recommend this course to people who are interested in photography and just want to get better. Other people who just want an art class without all of the mess would like this class as well.”
Q: How has this class inspired your artistic design?
“This class helped spark my creativity as cameras are able to capture other details than drawings and paintings. The class also requires you to edit the photos taken before you turn them in. During the class there are a total of 4 sketchbooks all of which you need to come up with your own topic and get 15 or more photos pertaining to that topic.”
