Junior High Students are starting their careers early at BHS.
8th grade students can take classes in the high school if the students are eligible to do so.
Some of the classes are electives or a core class which is Honors Algebra which is a class for freshmen. “Gives our higher academic students a new challenge and more elective opportunities,” said Assistant Principal at BJHS, Bench Currie.
It also helps students understand what high school is going to be like next year with a different setting. “There is something different I like about having different classes with tools, classmates, teachers, and going to a different building,” 8th grader Claire Watkins said.
Taking these classes helps students ease into high school with knowing teachers and the building. “They are more familiar with the building and teachers,” Currie said, “they also will get high school credits from these classes.”
Some students have already created relationships and get to know the BHS community and environment. “I get to know the upperclassmen and my teammates in the upcoming years,” Watkins said.
When in high school teachers push you to be the best you can be. “Prepares them for the vigorous amount of work in the high school,” Currie said. This is how students can prepare for the amount of work.
