Baldwin High School’s fall musical has been a tradition for many years. The musical has always been hectic for the staff, but the Director keeps a cool head.
“The busy season is always one of my favorites because I love working with the wonderful groups of students and directors to create something meaningful to share with the community,” said Katrina Jacobsen.
The students and staff of BHS are very excited about the musical.
The Musical has many funny moments making it a great place to laugh. “The show has some wonderful music, and it is hilarious and humorous, which always gets a laugh out of us all,” Jacobsen said.
Many people think the best part will be the comedy in the musical.
“It’s hard to pinpoint just one thing to like about this musical, but I would say that despite its humor and bright, colorful costumes, the show itself has an awesome message,” she said.
There are many new members of the staff of the musical this year, including Blake Brittingham, an 8th grader.
“The musical impacted my life by sparking my love for musical theater,” Brittingham said.
Brittingham did play in one of the Fall Musicals when she was younger.
“The first Musical I had ever done was Cinderella,” Brittingham said “It was one of the fall musicals. I had so much fun participating in it.”
Brittingham got a solo part playing the kid version of Fiona in this year’s musical.
“I am so lucky and grateful to have a solo as an 8th grader in a high school production, so I can’t wait to perform it,” Brittingham said.
This year, many freshmen are participating in the musical. Ali Taylor is one of them.
“I’m most excited about being one of the Three Blind Mice along with Brooklyn Taylor and Layne Brittingham,” Taylor said.
The Musical is a very encouraging environment for the students and staff participating.
“My favorite part of the musical is probably hanging out with my friends doing something I love. They all help me through the tough times of a long rehearsal day,” Taylor said.
