Even though the football team has had a rough start of the season due to injuries, the Bulldogs are still battling for a good season.
“The guys are competing hard, and we have given ourselves a chance in the fourth quarter every game,” Coach Bob Lisher said.
After the last game against the Burlington Wildcats, the team had major losses Including Bryis Alford the quarterback, Gunnar Reichard a receiver and Ryder Nigh a receiver.
“We lost a lot of guys, so we are going to have some other guys step up for the team,” Lisher said.
After these injuries, players will have to step up such as Tucker Flory who will be starting as quarterback.
“I am kind of nervous since it is my first time starting at quarterback,” Flory said. “I know the nerves will go away once I get that first snap over with.” Overall, I am thankful for the opportunity to play.”
Though a lot of players have stepped up, senior Brett Davidson has been a leader since day one.
“Being a leader for the team is a huge responsibility, but it’s something I’ve embraced and been able to start doing well at it,” Davidson said. “ Being able to do the little things right for the team during the week makes Friday nights a little easier for the team if we are able to all be on the same page and play.”
The team has had a losing start to the season with a 0-4 record but this team is going to finish hard because as Lisher believes this team is different.
“This team is different, they have more belief that they can compete, and they have,” Lisher said.
This team is full of competitors and they will compete against any team they come across. They have talent and are hard workers.
“It’s just a matter of getting over the top,” Lisher said.
