133 Coffee now has a new owner, Kelli Huslig, who owns Uplift in Baldwin City. After she bought 133, she changed it to Uplift. The logo, coffee beans, pastries, menu and rewards system have changed to Uplift products.
Uplift is a new and improved coffee shop, that many students, parents and teachers recommend trying.
“I think people need a space to get out of their house,” barista Tasha Nyberg said. “Uplift is a nice third space for students, and it does not cost too much money, you get free wifi and music.”
Uplift has been adding products to its menu for student-athletes and partnering up with Baker University and Baldwin High School to add a gallery wall to display the students’ art.
“Constantly trying to work to expand the menu for the students, with things like power cookies and loadless energy drinks,” manager Katelyn Vitt said. “Things that target athletes and having products that help students power through the day.”
Coffee and studying have gone hand in hand for many years.
“It is a quiet and calming place to study in,” BHS senior Malin Harris said. “If you can’t always focus on your work at home, going somewhere like Uplift is perfect, and getting coffee and a treat to study with is a plus.”
Uplift and 133 has always been a quiet environment for students, parents and the rest of the community.
“I’ve always liked Uplift for its quiet third space for the community, and its amazing coffee,” BHS freshman Emberlynn Neil said.
Uplift coffee has impacted the community in very positive ways.
“I am the type of person who thrives on caffeine, so being a high school student, running on little sleep and busy, stressful schedules; getting coffee at Uplift always lifts my day,” Harris said.
Uplift has many options for gluten-free products, along with many other allergy-friendly drinks and food.
“My favorite part about Uplift is that they have a gluten-free option for treats. I am allergic to gluten so this is amazing news for me,” Harris said. “It is the only bakery in town that has gluten free, dairy-free, and everything else free pastries that are delicious.”
Uplift is a great opportunity to meet up with people in a quiet environment, have coffee and talk to a staff that cares about you.
