Not many students get to travel overseas to Greece but these lucky kids do. On June 2nd, 2024 Patty Flory-Evans, Baldwin Junior High’s 7th grade language arts teacher, is taking 14 Baldwin Junior High School kids to Greece.
“We’ll fly overnight to Greece and spend a day in Athens, the next day we get a tour of Athens, and the Syntagma Square while going to the Parthenon to see the statues of Athena and Nike,” Flory-Evans said.
This trip will last 9 days including the days of the plane trips. This trip is expensive as well. The price for the students to go is $6,479 and for adults, it is $7,064.
Flory-Evans takes a trip with her students almost every two years.
“These trips are super exciting and fun to do. I have done some in Germany and even London.” Flory-Evans said.
Flory-Evans will be taking the students in less than five months. She has been preparing for this trip for two years.
“It is very expensive but it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Flory-Evans said.
Flory-Evans is also helping students afford this trip by giving them jobs to do. Ryder Bond is selling chocolate bars, fruits, and vegetables to raise enough money to go on the trip.
“Right now I am not selling chocolates but fruits like watermelon. “ said 8th grader Ryder Bond.
