This year the BHS band brought home a Superior rating from their performance at the State Fair.
“For our marching we got a one, and for our playing we got a one plus,” sophomore Alli Cramer said.
Their day started bright and early at six in the morning.
“This year we left at six in the morning to get an extra hour of sleep instead of leaving at 5am like last year,” sophomore Maddie Maddox said. “When we got there we were all in our pajamas so we changed into our marching outfits and marched in the parade.”
They played two songs including our school fight song Boosting and another song called Shout It Out.
“We played really well, the judges loved it. I think we did really well at focusing on what we were supposed to be looking at, focusing on the drum major and not goofing around the whole time,” Cramer said.
After marching and performing they hung out at the state fair until 3pm and arrived back at Baldwin at 8:30 p.m.
Cramer says what she most enjoys about going to the State Fair is “messing around the State Fair afterwards.”
The State Fair has a lot of activities and experiences to offer the band kids.
“My favorite part about going to the state fair is getting to see people I know and seeing the random things the state fair has like stuffed animals or footlong corn dogs. It’s a really fun experience,” Maddox said.
