Weighted grades new addition at BHS
BHS made a big change to its grading system two years ago. The school board adopted a weighted grading system to help with grading.
“Weighted grades are for kids who are in honor classes the school board invented this new system,” Baldwin said. ‘The school board thought it would be unfair to kids who aren’t in honor classes.”
Baldwin said the benefits of the new system are teachers can grade better, kids are separated and helped based off of the grades, and kids can learn at their level.
The downside is the stress level kids get stressed and worry about being kicked out of an honors class.Baldwin did say that kids should not worry at all the teachers are very helpful and after school tutoring. “Weighted grades really do help my GPA out” Freshmen Jack Baron said “But if you miss an assignment your grade and GPA will suffer from that missing assignment or missed problem,” Baron said.
