Maple Leaf Run enters 41st Year
This year’s Maple Leaf Run is the 41st annual race. The race is organized by Kit Harris and the Baldwin Wrestling team.
This is a tradition that has been held at the Baldwin City Golf Course for a long time.
“I have ran in it multiple times,” sophomore Zayne Nowak said. “I wrestle so this year I will probably be hosting it with the other BHS wrestlers.”
This will be Nowak’s 2nd year volunteering at the run.
“There is a main run for anyone wanting to do 3.1 miles,” Harris said, “then there is a mile run for kids to participate in.”
Maple Leaf offers more than just the run, including a parade, games, and rides.
“It is my favorite thing about Maple Leaf,” Jack Baron said.
Many people attend from all over the state and even across the country.
“Everyone in Baldwin City, and other various locations should come out to watch, or maybe even participate in the run,” Nowak said.
The Maple Leaf Run will start at 8 a.m and will be on Oct. 19.
