The Polar Express is here in Baldwin City
This winter the Midland Railway Association located in Baldwin City brings a new event to the town specifically for this time of season from Nov.16-Dec.30. For the first time ever Midland Railway has transformed the inside of their train into the Polar Express.
“The lights were really amazing on the train,” freshman Skyler Glenn said. “It was all christmassy inside.”
Midland Railway does more than decorating the train. On board the train guests are treated to a Polar Express experience with characters from the story giving you a show during the train ride as if you were on board the real Polar Express itself.
“I felt like I was apart of the story,” freshman Chloe Hoffman said. “Especially when the elves were interacting with us.”
The headquarters of Midland Railway has tents set up outside and inside them is a whole other experience. The place is decorated with lights and a big Christmas tree.
“When I walked in it seemed cozy,” freshman Maddox Shorb said. “Kind of like when you walk into your grandma’s house on Christmas morning.”
The event attracts people out of the Baldwin area including families living outside the Kansas region. The workers of Midland Railway are what help bring the children’s book to life.
“I like to watch the kids have a cool experience,” worker Issac Bailey said. “Seeing the joy it brings them.”
Customers interested in the event will have to purchase tickets in advance on the Midland Railway Polar Express website.
