Baldwin Band is excited to participate in KU Band Day
The University of Kansas School of Music will stage the 67th Annual KU Band Day on Saturday, Sept. 20. Thirty high school bands from Kansas and Missouri will participate in the event. This year will be senior Genesis Barwick’s third KU Band Day. Barwick is also one of BHS Band Majors.
Barwick is really looking forward to playing on the football field with the KU Band.
“Performing with them really gives a lot of us a chance to see what a college level marching band is like,” Barwick said.
Some of the alumni from Baldwin play in the KU marching band.
“I am super excited to see some of my old friends that have graduated, even if it’s for only like little while,” Barwick said.
Drew Cheek and Abby Clem are some of the alumni that have graduated from Baldwin and moved on to KU Band.
The traditional KU Band Day will start at 9 a.m. on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence. The bands will also be playing at the halftime show during KU vs. Central Michigan football games starts 2:30 p.m. kickoff time.
