Class of 2015 ready to finish in style
The seniors have been looking forward to graduating high school since they were in Kindergarten. The time is finally here, last time for everything. Many will be sad to see them go.
For Christian Gaylord, he is really looking forward to his senior year of football.
“I am sad that this year is going be my last year to play football with my senior pals, we have been together for four years now,” Gaylord said. “My best memory of my football career in high school, would be going 11-1 and destroying every Frontier League team.”
Senior Corey Valentine is excited to play her last year of volleyball.
“This will be my last time playing volleyball with all my friends, we have had some really good time on and off the court,” Valentine said. “Team bonding is a big part of this team.”
For Natalie Shultz, the Art Club and sport events are going to the best part of her year, but she is sad that it is going to be the last time to do everything.
“I plan on going to Baker University for college,” Shultz said. “The most recent dance I will forever remember, it was fabulous.”
Culinary Teacher Paul Musselman has advice for seniors about college.
“Don’t be afraid to go to the community college route, to get general classes out of the way,” said Musselman. “Also you need to care of responsibilities as seniors so that you can take care of the school and the younger students.”
For Michaela Todd cheering and sing is a big part of her high school career.
“I plan on going to Emporia University for cheer and choir,” Todd said. “My most memorable moment would be my freshman year Winter Formal, we got to dress up in beautiful dresses and it made me realize that I am really in high school, it made me feel really mature.”
Kymbr Simmons has been to KMEA all-state band two times, and it really hoping her senior year will be her third time.
“For college, I don’t know where I wanna go yet, but I do know that I wanna get into Music Ed,” Simmons said. “Going to all-state band were some of my best memories at Baldwin High School.”
What attracts the Counselor Debbie Baldwin to this class is their passion and their love for this school.
“I think overall this class has so much passion for the things they believe in or love,” Baldwin said. “There also a very strong athletic class, with tons of school spirit.”
Baldwin also has tips for seniors.
“The sooner you start to apply for colleges, the less stress you will get your second semester of high school,” She said. “Make sure to finish your senior year strong.”
