StarStruck looking to be another big hit
Bright lights, a cheering crowd, the adrenaline courses through your veins as you look off the stage at the audience.
Baldwin High School’s talent show, StarStruck, is on May 10. Auditions were Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1. StarStruck is a fundraiser for the BHS choirs, it provides the funding needed to make it through the year.
“The money we raise goes to support all the choirs needs next year,” Choir director Beth Nelson said. “For example, we could purchase extra robes or concert choir uniforms that we didn’t anticipate at the end of this year. Other examples include music we might decide we want to order, equipment we need or, of course, cookies before concerts.”
StarStruck is a daunting idea for most people. The thought of getting up on stage and taking a chance worries some. However, veteran performers have a slightly different take on the challenge.
“The auditions are really laid back as always and I think the show will be really great again just like last year,” junior Taylor Wallis said. “It’s easier now because I know what to expect and I’m really excited to perform and see what everyone else does.”
StarStruck provides students with a chance to shine and show off talents they have that they might not get a chance to express otherwise.
“I love that StarStruck allows students all over our school to showcase their performing talents,” Nelson said. “I also enjoy giving the choirs a chance to perform pop music with choreography. I think it’s interesting that the show is different each year because the performers involved make it their own.”
