First concert for BHS choirs
Melodies fill the Performing Arts Center as Concert Choir runs and reruns sections of music trying to perfect it in time for the concert. It will be the first concert for Men’s Chorus, Women’s Chorus and Concert Choir.
Concert Choir will be performing four songs. “Niška Banja” is a Serbian gypsy dance song, “Sure On This Shinning Night,” which is composed by Morten Laurdsen, starts with the men of concert choir and then the ladies join in, “All Ye Who Music Love” composed by Baldassare Donato in four part harmony, and “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Freddie Mercury, recorded by Queen.
“I can see now why Freddie Mercury and Queen had to sing their part continuously for 10-12 hours a day in the studio. It’s a tough piece,” director Beth Nelson said.
The concert is Nov. 7 at 7 p.m in the PAC, it features all three high school choirs. It is the first choir concert of the year. One of the first opportunities for the choirs to show how hard they have been working and what they can do.
