BHS graduate Katie Beall is now working with the International Educational Microgrant organization to aid children across the globe.
“This year, we are working with two large NGOs, (American Councils and EducationUSA, both of which work closely with the US State Department) to give grants to students to cover the costs of applying for international universities,” Beall said.
International Educational Microgrant is an organization that aids in the education of underdeveloped countries. Right now they are raising funds to allow them to apply 501(c)(3) IRS tax exempt nonprofit status. It costs $400 to register for this status. This will allow them to reach out to more donors and apply for grants.
They are also in the process of purchasing test preparation books for test such as the SAT, ACT, GMAT, LSAT, ect. They will be delivering these books to Bosnia over the summer. The books will distributed all over the country but mainly to children outside the capital, Sarajevo. Their goal is to raise $1,000 for their first three microgrants. They have already raised $850 toward their goal.
