A new class has been added to Baldwin High School recently, called ancient medieval history and students are loving it. The class is taught by Don Blanchat, a social studies teacher.
The class learns about many different subjects.
“I have liked learning about ancient Rome in the class, it has been my favorite subject,” student Johnny Torrez said.
The class has many different subjects ranging from many different historical empires such as the previously mentioned ancient Rome and also subjects over the ancient weapons used.
“My favorite subject was just learning about all the ancient weapons,” freshman Jessie Wadel said. “I also like learning about the many different and diverse civilizations in ancient history.”
The class does many projects and different lessons.
“I like that we can jump around to different topics in history” Blanchat said “We do everything from making catapults to creating civilizations”.
“My favorite project we have done so far was creating catapults with creative items,” Torrez said.
The class teaches students about many different time periods and what they were like with projects like the previously mentioned catapult project the students did.
“My favorite project was when we had a battle of ancient weapons against my classmates in which I won,” Wadel said.
The class has been around for 3 years which makes it one of the newest classes added to the school.
“I think I have been teaching the class for around 3 years now,” Blanchat said.
Johnny Torrez finds the class very helpful and very informative.
“The class has taught me a lot about many ancient civilizations,” Torrez said. “The class teaches me a lot about the subject of ancient medieval history.”
There is only one class hour that this class is taken and it is in 4th hour so it is a very hard class to get into but if you do it is a very informative and fun class to take.
“Ancient medieval history has taught me about many ancient weapons and how they were used in medieval times,” Wadel said.
The class is a very informative and productive class making it great for students to learn quickly and efficiently about the subject.
