Zach Flowers graduated from BHS in 2019. Flowers has found himself back at his alma mater, trying to make a difference in the student community.
“My favorite part is seeing progress through effort in students,” Flowers said. “ Also hoping that I can at least inspire, motivate, or direct someone into finding confidence and self worth in themselves, reflecting on how I felt towards past coaches that did so for me.”
Flowers always knew he wanted to come back and make an impact in high schooler’s lives.
“It feels comfortable to be back,” he said. “When I was in highschool here, I always saw myself coming back to coach in some way, but I didn’t intend to as soon as I have.”
Flowers is a great addition to the staff here at BHS.
“We need good people working in our school system, people like Zach,” BHS teacher, Kit Harris said. “He has been a great addition to our school in several sports programs and in our classrooms.”
Flowers is appreciated by other staff members and connects with the students personally.
“He takes his job seriously and connects with the students,” Harris said. “He is appreciated around here.”
Flowers’ advice for students looking into coaching or teaching is to find opportunities to learn.
“My advice is to continue learning, and looking to learn from everything and everyone, including students.”
