Over the years there have been many improvements to BHS, such as the Bay and the gym but, is there something in store for the future at BHS?
“We most certainly have improvements planned for the high school.” Superintendent Mark Dodge said. “This is going to be an exciting process that will benefit our students and community for a long time.”
These improvements will be very exciting for the district.
“Our community passed a bond issue last spring that will allow the district to update and improve our CTE facilities, add roughly 200 new parking spaces at the high school, relocate the current restrooms closer to the soccer field, add an entrance to BHS off of 6th street, create a safe off-street bus loop for arrival and dismissal at BJHS & BHS, as well as enclosing the breezeway between BJHS and BHS,” Dodge said.
Students are very happy that these improvements are happening.
“I am excited for the new parking lot so people don’t have to stress about getting a parking spot or have to park on the street,” freshman Ivy Holloman said.
The soccer players are especially happy about these improvements.
“I’m excited for the new bathrooms because then you don’t have to use Porta Potties or hold it all practice,” freshman Macy Miller said.
Though some of these improvements will be happening right away not all of them will. Some will be happening farther into the future.
“Construction on the new parking spaces and entrance is set to begin shortly after the school year ends. Our goal is for the parking lot work to be completed by the start of the school year,” Dodge said, “The work on the new CTE facility is scheduled to begin later this summer, to have the entire project completed by the fall of the 2026-2027 school year.”
That’s not it for BHS, they will continue to make improvements as the years go on.
“In the future, our needs will continue to be reviewed to ensure we are keeping up with our student population as well as learning opportunities,” Dodge said
