Future Business Leaders of America, also known as FBLA, is a club at Baldwin High School. Six students will compete at the District Conference on Jan. 23. Then, the same six will compete at the State Conference in Topeka. If they make the top four, the team can then compete at Nationals in Anaheim, California.
“FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America,” junior Annette Perez said. “It is the largest Career and Technical Student Organization in the world and it helps high school students prepare for careers in business through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs.”
The team consists of Hank Beard, Dylan Miller, Raelyn Wilkerson, Olivia Callihan, Annette Perez and Jaimz Templeton and is sponsored by Bronté Batman.
“This is my eighth year as an FBLA advisor,” Batman said. This year, I hope to have several students qualify for Nationals in various events.”
FBLA is a great educational experience for those wanting to prep for the “real world.”
“It is an amazing learning opportunity because it helps students become community-minded business leaders,” Perez said. “FBLA uses relevant career preparations and leadership experiences to help the future business leaders of America and the world.”
