Andreas Brandenberger is an alumni from BHS. During his time at BHS he wrestled, had big dreams, and later pursued golf in his adult life.
Q: How was your time at BHS?
“My time at BHS was great. I enjoyed the time I spent there and the people I grew up with. It’s a great place to be from.”
Q: Who influenced you to golf?
“I enjoyed watching highlights of Tiger Woods growing up and honestly didn’t know if I’d ever get to play because of my short arms. It wasn’t until college when I saw a video of George Utley, a guy with similar arms as me and he was playing and swinging with a longer club under his arm. I saw that and decided right then and there I was going to play.”
Q: Did you like wrestling for BHS?
“I loved wrestling. It was such a great sport for me and taught me a lot about myself. It helped me gain confidence in my body and what I can do with it. I gained a lot of self-confidence wrestling and the ability to be more public with my disability.”
Q: What year did you graduate from BHS?
“I graduated in 2005.”
Q: What’s your favorite thing about golf?
“I love that golf is an outdoor sport played in beautiful areas and is a sport you can play for life and meet incredible people along the way.”
Q: What have you learned that you think students of BHS should hear?
“Life is very short, so do what makes you happy. Chase your dreams and live your life to the fullest. Don’t compare yourself to others. And lastly be a good person.”
Q: When did you start golfing?
“I started playing golf in 2010.”
Q: What has kept you motivated?
“I love helping inspire the next generation of people with disabilities. Showing what is possible so that the next group can carry the torch even further.”
