Joey LaBuda graduated in 2011. He went to Pittsburg University after high school and joined there ROTC program. He graduated from Pittsburg University in 2015. Shortly after college he joined the army where he has devoted almost 10 years of his life.
Q.What year did you graduate from BHS?
“I graduated from Baldwin High in 2011 then I went to Pitt state. I Graduated from Pittsburg State in 2015.”
Q. What made you want to join the army?
“I wanted to join the Army because I felt like serving was the right thing to do. It’s a very honorable path in life, one that I think everyone should do, even if only for one term. I also joined because I wanted to make a difference and to lead Soldiers which is why I went officer. Lastly I joined because I wanted to travel.”
Q. How long after highschool did you join the army?
“I went through the ROTC program at Pittsburg State. I actually joined the Army when I commissioned which is same time around graduating in 2015.”
Q. What do you do in the army?
“My base branch is Ordnance and I’m now Logistics. I make sure the unit(s) I’m supporting gets the beans, bullets, and oil. So basically my Soldiers who are trained in all of these skills, I make sure they stay trained throughout the year and then when it matters they are able to fix, fuel, provide, and all other forms of support for the unit.”
Q.How long have you been the army and how long do you plan to stay in the army?
“So I’ve been in the Army for 9 and a half years. I plan to step out of the Army in 2026 I have enjoyed my time so far and I know what the back half (of 20 years, to retire) offers and I’m fine with getting out now.”
Q. Do you move around/travel a lot?
“Lastly I joined because I wanted to travel. The Army has taken me to Central Texas, West Texas, Virginia, Croatia, Korea, and Kuwait.”
