This year, the Baldwin High School Dance team welcomes their new head coach, Stephani Howarter.
“Dance has been a huge part of my life,” Howarter said, “being able to share my experience and to see how the team has come together and their increased confidence is very rewarding.”
This year, the dance team has eight members, four of which are seniors. There are also three juniors and one freshman.
“I love being on the team because of the friendships I have made throughout my three years on the team,” junior Annette Perez said. “My sister is a freshman and she joined the team so I have so much fun dancing with her.”
The team is very small, and since half of them will be graduating this year, new members are needed.
“It’s super fun and I have learned so much,” senior Emily Howarter said. “It’s a great experience to have and there are a lot of performance opportunities.”
Even if someone has little to no experience in dance, they can still try out and might even learn something along the way.
“My sister was the dance team captain when she was in high school and I had a couple friends say that they were trying out and so I came along and I haven’t regretted it since,” senior Gracelyn Trendel said.
If someone is wondering when you can see the dance team perform, they perform at lots of school sports events.
“We perform at all home football and basketball games if able to,” senior Adalyn Madl said.
