During all her years in the Baldwin schools, Senior Bailey Smith has become one of the most involved and active students in the school system.
“From a young age I was encouraged to be in a lot of activities,” Bailey said. “My mom really modeled the importance of involvement and versatility to me.”
Bailey has gone to school in Baldwin for her entire life and has thrived since the beginning.
“I think I first joined a club in elementary school,” Bailey said. “I ran for my first student council election in second grade.”
Bailey’s mom Kelley Smith has urged her into becoming the best version of herself she can be.
“Life is more meaningful and our brains and spirits are healthier when we can find purpose,” Kelley said. “Once you pick what you want to do, refuse to be out worked and set that standard as a gift to yourself.”
Bailey has participated in 10 or more clubs and activities like soccer, basketball, cross country and track.
“I don’t think I could pick a favorite,” Bailey said. “The whole reason I am Involved in so many things is because they are all unique.”
Like most seniors Bailey plans or attending college after high school.
“Through all my activities, I have discovered a passion for learning,” Bailey said. “I plan to pursue a degree in Biology with a minor in Music and play soccer.”
Bailey plans on attending Black Hills State University for a soccer scholarship.
“I knew I couldn’t give any of these activities up so I decided to do them all,” she said.
