BHS science teacher, Morgan Burns, worked as a Meteorologist in the Air Force for 13 and a half years. This job consisted of forecasting the weather, mainly for Army personnel and aircraft.
Since Burns was in the Air Force, she had to do training.
“Training was difficult at times, it just depended on what we were learning,” Burns said. “If it was troop movements, it was more physically demanding but training to be a weather officer was more mentally demanding.”
During her time in the Air Force she accomplished working temporarily as the Commander of a weather flight.
“I commissioned (became an officer) and worked temporarily as the Commander of a weather flight before becoming a teacher,” Burns said.
The Air Force also includes a large amount of traveling.
“My favorite place I traveled to was Guyana,” Burns said. “It wasn’t for weather forecasting but it is something I will always remember.”
After working in the Air Force for 13 and a half years Burns decided to become a teacher.
“I decided to become a teacher when I realized the toll it was taking on my children,” Burns said. “They were sacrificing as much as I was, it seemed and I wanted to be at home more to provide them a much more stable environment”
