“I have wanted to be in meteorology ever since I was a freshman in high school. I learned about military weather in college and I joined so I could get some of my college paid for. I was a weather forecaster for 13 years. My favorite part of the military was a ‘sense of purpose.’ Having actual missions to forecast the weather for and knowing what I did mattered was extremely rewarding. I left the military to teach and be on the same schedule as my children. I just didn’t know when or if it would actually happen. One thing I will never forget is that my greatest accomplishment was becoming an officer.”
