Humans of BHS: Cooper Carr
“I’ve been playing soccer my whole life. My dad introduced me to the Vinland soccer team, which was coached by Matt McCune. I played on that team for a while, until it shut down. Then I started playing on Club Palmyra, I played on that team until I got to high school. At first you don’t know what to expect being a freshman on varsity, That’s what a good team with leadership is for. They are always pushing you to be the best you can be, and they help you get used to the team. By the end of the season you know what to do, and you’re more confident than you were. This year I broke the record for most goals scored by a freshman. The record was previously held by Grady McCune, he scored 9 goals his freshman year. I broke the record of scoring 14 goals by the end of the season. I love soccer because it is not like any other sport. It’s not as constant as basketball, but not as slow as a baseball game. You have to create and you also have to finish. There are just so many different aspects to the game, and that’s why I love it.”
